KIA ORA/GREETINGS TO ALL PARENTS AND FRIENDS OF THE SCHOOL

It’s great to see our students starting to get back into routine again.  Thank you to all those parents who are keeping their children home if unwell.  The recent events at Mangatangi School demonstrate the impact of students attending school with any symptoms.  The teachers spent much of Monday preparing students with resources in case our alert level was raised.  Thank you to all those families who ensured devices were returned the next day.  Let’s hope that we all get back to level 1 as soon as possible!

TRANSITION MEETING

Just a reminder that Hauraki Plains College will be on site tomorrow to speak with our Year 8 students and deliver enrolment packs.  It is important that all year 8s are present as it will be their only visit this year.  At this stage there is still a “Big Day Out” day scheduled for the 8th  December where our year 8s travel to HPC and meet their River Guides etc.  Parents will also be invited to part of this day.

Click this link to see some things you can do for your Māori Language Moment. It could be as easy as greeting everyone you see with ‘kia ora’, starting your Zoom call with “mōrena”, or playing te reo Māori songs in your home/workplace. How you do it is up to you, but you can get started with some ideas linked here!
It was wonderful to see the smiling faces of all the children who came back to school during level 2 last week. We enjoyed watching the students reconnecting with their friends, laughing and playing together. While Covid is obviously a time of challenge and stress for many, it has also highlighted to us how important it is for children to engage with each other and how schools help facilitate this. Unfortunately, as mentioned in previous newsletters with the uncertainty of Alert levels and guidelines there are some changes to our planned events.
