Kia ora katoa

It was great seeing so many of you come down for our conference night to celebrate the wonderful successes your children are having. We believe the partnerships between parents, whānau and teachers are critical to the success of our tamariki. When we work together it makes your child’s journey through our kura even more successful. Thank you for taking the time to come and talk with our teachers. If you were unable to attend and would like an alternative time, please feel free to contact classroom teachers to make arrangements.

On Monday our hardworking PTA held their monthly meeting to organise our Calf Club event.  A big thank you for their generous donation of funding $15 per student for their end of year camp and 5 new chrome books!!!

CHICKEN POX

A large number of children have been away from Ika Iti (Room 4) with the Chicken Pox.  This has now spread to Patiki and Kaitaki with children away in these rooms also.

Chicken Pox is spread by Coughing, sneezing and contact with weeping blisters.

Early symptoms are fever and spots with a blister on top of each spot.

Time between exposure and sickness is 10-21 days after being exposed.

Exclusion from school  is 1 week from appearance of rash or until all blisters have dried.

If your child is feeling unwell, please keep them home, and inform the office via our absence line, email or website.

WATCH OUT NITS ABOUT!

Unfortunately it’s the time of the year when nits are active and we have had some reported cases at school.  Please can you check your child’s head regularly and treat as necessary. If we suspect your child has nits we will discreetly check and if nits are found we will phone you to collect your child, when their hair has been treated they can return to school. There is some evidence to suggest that Tea Tree oil products can deter nits .
