Kia ora koutou,

What a fabulous day our Year 7 & 8 students have for their trip to Rainbows End.  I’m sure they will have an awesome trip!  Lets hope the weather holds for the Kaitaki Camp next week.

MONEY TO SCHOOL

Just a reminder with the end of year coming up and money coming in for trips etc that money is to be placed in an envelope with the name, amount and reason clearly labelled.  Each class has a container for these envelopes to be kept secure and then sent to the school office.  Inside the container is a book for the recording of all deposits.  We have found that this system ensures the security of money forwarded to school and is alloted to the correct students.  Please do not leave money at the office desk when unattended.

SCHOOL DONATIONS

As you may be aware, the Ministry of Education has decided to offer schools the opportunity to accept increased funding if they agree to eliminate school donations.  The Board of Trustees of Turua School has decided to accept the Ministry’s offer and will not be asking for donations from our whānau effective next year.  More information on this school donation scheme can be found at https://www.education.govt.nz/school/funding-and-financials/fees-charges-and-donations/.

HOLIDAY PROGRAMME

The holiday programme will run from  Tuesday January 21st 2020-Friday January 31st.

If you are interested in enrolling your child, please do so as soon as possible, as places are filling fast.

This is OSCAR funded. The cost is $40 per day per child. If 2 or more children in a family are enrolled to attend everyday then a 10% discount is given.

The swimming pool will be opened daily for children enrolled in the programme and lots of fun activities are planned.

To enroll speak to any of the After School Team or leave a message with Maree in the office.

WATCH OUT NITS ABOUT!

It’s the time of the year that nits love.  Please check your child’s hair.  Remember nits do not care if hair is clean or dirty, long or short, straight or curly.  They are not that fussy.  If we suspect your child has nits we will discreetly check and phone you to collect and treat them if found.

Children with nits cannot return to school until they have been treated. They are not the end of the world, but spread very quickly as little heads are often in close proximity to each other in the classroom and playground.
