KIA ORA/GREETINGS TO ALL PARENTS AND FRIENDS OF THE SCHOOL

We are are up and running again this week after being cut off from the internet last week! The weather is still incredibly hot and teachers allow students back into classrooms at lunchtimes to keep out of the heat along with free swims when they can.  It is great to see so many students bringing water bottles and they are encouraged to keep hydrated during class time as well. (Water only thanks)

BIBLE IN SCHOOLS

At the end of last year the Board undertook a survey to find out if our school community still wanted the Bible In Schools programme.  Of the responses there were 65% of families who wanted this programme retained and 35% who did not.  The Board have discussed this outcome and decided to retain the programme for another year.  Reflecting on responses about the options our school can provide we have decided that children not attending the Bible In Schools classes will work with teachers on the Curriculum values.

Students will be encouraged to value:

  • excellence, by aiming high and by persevering in the face of difficulties
  • innovation, inquiry, and curiosity, by thinking critically, creatively, and reflectively
  • diversity, as found in our different cultures, languages, and heritages
  • equity, through fairness and social justice
  • community and participation for the common good
  • ecological sustainability, which includes care for the environment
  • integrity, which involves being honest, responsible, and accountable and acting ethically and to respect themselves, others, and human rights.
