KIA ORA/GREETINGS TO OUR SCHOOL COMMUNITY
We have come to the end of term 3 and I think everyone is looking forward to a bit of a break during the holidays. Our longest term this year!
SIR PETER BLAKE AWARD
Sir Peter Blake believed in the incredible potential of young people to achieve great things and was one of our most famous sailors, adventurers and environmentalists. He sailed in five Round-The-World Yacht races and kept trying until he finally won it on his fifth try – taking him 17 years! He is a great example of leadership, and how, through hard work and self-belief, you can achieve your dreams.
The BLAKE Young Leader Award aims to recognise young New Zealanders (year 5-8) who show commitment to leading positive change in their community that leads to a sustainable future for Aotearoa.
This year the Turua School Young Leaders Award goes to Peyton. Peyton is a student who leads others quietly by modelling appropriate values and behaviours at our school. Congratulations Peyton!
WHATS BEEN HAPPENING AT TURUA SCHOOL THIS WEEK?
Kaitaki have been planning and organising the painting of their donated lunch tables over the last few weeks. Aswell as the design for painting this project has included many other aspects of the New Zealand Curriculum, inluding mathematics, literacy and the essential skills. Congratulations Kaitaki for demonstrating the essential skills of collaboration, communication, creativity and critical thinking. They are starting to look amazing!!
