KIA ORA/GREETINGS TO ALL PARENTS AND FRIENDS OF THE SCHOOL

Our Grandparents day was certainly well attended and the costumes our students wore were fantastic!!!  I hope that you enjoy the photos below.  Thank you to Karyn Benny and Merren Gillingham for organising such a fabulous Book Fair.

A reminder that school is closed on Monday for our Teacher Only Day and students will return on Tuesday 15th June.

MARAE VISIT

Our consent forms for the marae visit have been distributed to students.  Please return these as soon as possible.  There is no cost to this trip as the school is funding the experience for all students.

GARDEN TO TABLE

This week on a rainy day our tamariki painted riverstones as garden markers and made origami seed packets. In the kitchen our chefs made a delicious creamy pasta bake with seasonal greens and spring onions

BOOK FAIR

A huge thank you to everyone who supported our Book Fair.  We sold $2566.00 worth of books which has enabled us to purchase new books for the Library to the value of $769.80. WOW!

Also thank you to all the parents and grandparents who came along to Grandparents Day on Friday 4th June and sat in the cold and fog and watched our wonderful students strut their stuff in the character parade.  The effort that went into the costumes was incredible and it made judging extremely hard.

The winners were:

Te ika iti: Loxie

Patiki: Valerie and Ashton

Te Wheke: Sam M

Mangopare: Tove and Hazel

Kaitaki: Blake

Also many thanks to the Garden to Table group who provided morning tea for the visitors.  Everyone raved over the Pumpkin Loaf so attached is a link with the recipe.

BOOK WEEK

By Emma Wiggins, Emily Ross & Ivy Reneti

Turua School had their annual Character Parade, Grandparents Day and Book Fair on Friday 4th June 2021.  There were tons of amazing costumes and cool books to buy.  From the kids perspective who dressed up we thought it was an awesome experience getting to walk around and show off our costumes to everyone.  The grandparents really enjoyed their day getting to see the artwork, gardens and costumes along with spending time in classrooms.  We are very grateful to all the whānau for coming to watch us, helping us make our costumes.  A huge thanks to all those who purchased books along with those who donated books to our library.

And a very special thank you to our wonderful Librarians, Mrs Gillingham and Mrs Benny for all the hours put into the organisation and running of our Book Week.

We are so lucky to have you!
