The end of the year is fast approaching and our teachers are completing students’ end of year reports.  These will be distributed to students on Monday 13th December and will also be available online.  Just a reminder that school will close at 12 noon on Wednesday 15th December.

SWIMMING POOL

Our swimming pool will be open for the community from Monday 10th January 2022.  Keys may be obtained from the school office from Monday.  The cost is $50 and a $10 bond. You will need to sign an agreement form- available at the office.

BOT UPDATE

Kia ora koutou from the Board of Trustees.

Our last meeting was held on Monday 15 November where we continued to discuss the government and Ministry of Education guidelines for operating within new COVID vaccination restrictions, and the impact on school events.  We acknowledged the success of the Calf Club Day, the efforts of the School PTA, and the support of our parents in making this a memorable experience for our children.

The Board of Trustees were updated on the tender process for the school hall upgrade.  This process is now complete and the project will begin in the new year.  Development of outdoor play areas was also discussed, and we’ll be sharing exciting plans for this with you in the coming months.  Information was provided on a proposal to extend the Garden to Table curriculum in 2022 to include more classes, and the Board is supportive of this.

Our final meeting for the school year will be held on 13 December at 6pm in the school staff room.

GARDEN TO TABLE

“This week students were busy with LOTS of weeding and planting in more sweetcorn and tomatoes for summer. Kaitaki have continued making some beautiful painted planter boxes and preparing to expand the School Leaver’s Garden. In the kitchen both classes were using vegetables in unusual ways: Kaitaki made courgette chocolate brownies, and in Mangōpare one group made pizza with a cauliflower base, while the other get a taste of an American tradition by making sweet Pumpkin Pie.”
