Welcome to our final newsletter for 2021!  Thank you to all our whanau who have provided us with so much support during this rather challenging year.  There are many different groups within a school who assist in providing the best for our students and we are lucky at Turua to have so many awesome people .  Thank you to our PTA, our Board of Trustees, Community helpers in Garden to Table and all our parents who have assisted with transport and supervision.

2022 stationery lists will be distributed next week and be put up on the office window

Our Junior Prize Giving takes place tomorrow at 1.00pm by the lunch area.  Please remember that it is strictly two guests per family and facemasks must be worn on site.  The Senior Prize Giving is on Monday at 1.00pm.  Unfortunately if it rains and we cannot be outside the events will be cancelled.  We will video the Prize Giving for parents.  Keep an eye out on Facebook, seesaw and class dojo for any late changes.

This week Greg has erected our House Murals we commissioned by our local artist Claire DuBosky.  They are stunning, so please take the time to view if you are coming onsite for our Prize Givings.

Our Year 8’s had their celebration day last week at the Waimarino Water & Adventure Park. We would like to say a big thank you to all our whānau who attended the day with us, Erin Staples, Anikha Sanders, Charan Mischewski, Julie Richards, Phillippa Reuben, Alaina & Hamish Frost, Mackenzie Saunders and Madison McAuley. We’re so grateful you all took the time to come celebrate with our students, they had an absolutely wonderful day!

Garden to Table 2021 ended with a relaxed and fun session with Mangōpare. We split into three groups and rotated through the garden and kitchen. The other group participated in a tasting session, experiencing several explosions of flavour like chilli, wasabi, and blue cheese, as well as some sweeter flavours like banana and marshmallow. Well done to everyone for giving it a go, it certainly proved that our class tastes have changed and broadened over the year! We finished off with some bbq burgers, featuring some kindly donated venison patties, and a quiet lunch under the trees. The perfect picnic to finish on. We can’t wait to see what awaits us in the garden when we return next year……
